BIOGRAPHY

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since 1966, when designers at Letraset and James Mosley, the librarian at St Bride Printing Library in London, took a 1914 Cicero translation and scrambled it to make dummy text for Letraset’s Body Type sheets. It has survived not only many decades, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised thanks to these sheets and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker and Microsoft Word including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

A Company Member since 2005, Alison has appeared often at Theatre 40, most recently as a slew of Jane Austen’s delicious harridans in Jane Austen in 89 Minutes. You’ve also seen her here as Jo in Incident at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Margie in Good People (Outstanding Lead Performance in a Drama Scenie Award Winner), Countess Doris in Flare Path, Janet in Accomplice, Mrs. Medway in A Shred of Evidence, Lily in Breath of Spring, and Annie in The Norman Conquests. She’s performed locally with many other Companies, including as a member of SeaGlass Theatre Co. (A Christmas Twist and Wake), The Production Co. (Look Homeward, Angel, Memorable Performance by a Lead Actress Scenie Award Winner), I.C.T. Long Beach (To Kill A Mockingbird), and JACK Theatre (A Midsummer Night’s Dream). Her television work includes “Everybody Hates Chris”, “Colin in Black and White” on Netflix, and the recent “Clipped” on FX. You’ll also recognize her as Dr. Ogden as you queue for “Avatar: Flight of Passage” at Walt Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
